RUURLO – The Love Path in Ruurlo is getting wings. The two impressive works of art that were placed last week are inundated with compliments. The first edition of the Love Fan was sold out within a few days. “The Lichtjeswalk is on the program on December 27th. If the omens are not deceiving, many people will come and get a free portion of love,” says Bert van Zijtveld, initiator of Het Liefdespad.
The day after Christmas – Tuesday 27 December – Het Liefdespad will be lit up like a fairytale. After two days of sitting, eating and drinking, a walk of about an hour and a half past beautiful works of art by well-known Dutch artists awaits. “We recently added two metal deer heads six meters high. In total there are now nine works of art along the six-kilometre route.” At the beginning of 2023, the Love Path will be enriched again with three more striking works of art.
“It seems that the need for a little warmth and love is greater than ever.” Together with the board members of Stichting Het Liefdespad and a rapidly growing number of ambassadors, a Love Fan was developed full of stimulating questions and simple assignments. “On the basis of this fan, the love for your walking partner is strengthened and fueled. It doesn’t matter if you walk with your partner, with your parents, your relatives or your colleagues. The fan ensures that you get to know each other better and come closer together.”
With Het Liefdespad, Ruurlo has added a major attraction in addition to Museum More, the Maze and the Klimbos. “We have been working on the development for a long time, but now it is in full glory. We should stop for a while! We keep developing and adding new artworks. All the enthusiastic reactions show that we are on the right path. We connect people, love, exercise, hiking, culture and nature. The interest of companies and institutions in the fan in combination with the walk is enormous. Within a few days the first edition of the fan was sold out. The benevolence of companies that want to connect their brand to The Love Path is also heartwarming.”
Everyone can walk the Lichtjeswalk for free on Tuesday 27 December. Between 19:00 and 21:00 you can start continuously from the NS station, De Heikamp and from the Kerkplein in Ruurlo. All restaurants and bakeries in Ruurlo offer warming refreshments to hikers along the way. The works of art are highlighted and the route is attractively lit with hundreds of tea lights. Nevertheless, it is advisable to bring a flashlight. Latest start time is 8pm.
On Tuesday 27 December, the Love Fan is for sale at the three starting points for 7.50 euros. In addition, the fan is also for sale at VVV Ruurlo and various restaurants and shops in and around Ruurlo.
