The summer vacation is over. People who are shrinking are back to work and the schoolyards are filling up every day. The start of the new school year also means the opening of the cultural season. This year, the Opening of the Cultural Season will be celebrated in a big way with Open House Tuyter and Open Monument Day. On Saturday September 10 there is a lot to do in Krimpen a/d IJssel in the field of heritage and culture.
Experience cultural heritage in Krimpen during the National Heritage Day (10 am-5 pm)
During the annual National Open Monument Day, monuments throughout the country open their doors to the public, including in Krimpen a/d IJssel! As a center for the history of the village, the Streekmuseum Krimpenerwaard comes with an extensive program. For example, there is a flea market and vintage market, local snacks and drinks are served, there is a children’s workshop in which history and sustainability come together, Music Association Concordia performs and there are demonstrations of crafts. The museum is also free to visit all day long for everyone.
In addition to the Regional Museum, there is plenty to do at other monuments. The Klein Boveneind children’s farm celebrates the well-known Autumn Festival, there are concerts throughout the day at the IJsseldijk Church, the Krimpen Historic Circle opens the old Krimpenerwaard Engineering Office for the last time and the project developer COUP presents the plans for the future of the Duijvendijk Shipyard in a festive way.
Art and culture at Open House Tuyter (10.30am-3pm)
In the heart of the municipality, various organizations show what the village has to offer in the field of art and culture through information stalls. There are musical performances by, among others, Muziekvereniging Concordia, Vocal Group Jade, Children’s Choir Kik and Onomatopee.
Trial lessons Youth Theater Hofplein
Visitors can also participate in various trial lessons from Youth Theater Hofplein and Muziekschool Krimpen. The Library organizes a workshop ‘Art & Chat. Outside you will find the toy library Reuzekeus and Synerkri with Circus Ravioli (until 4 p.m.) and a creative table. Eetcafé de Crimpenaar provides tasty refreshments on their indoor and outdoor terrace and the fair of the Crimpenhof Shopping Center will be extended to Tuyterplein.
The Open Monument Day and Open House Tuyter are connected in a special way. Two covered wagons will drive between the petting zoo, the Streekmuseum Krimpenerwaard and the Tuyter. You can also board a historic ship at the Van Duijvendijk Shipyard to Ouderkerk a/d IJssel.
