KNMI and RIVM warn against extreme heat and smog in Limburg

“Stay indoors and avoid exertion,” KNMI warns today. Due to the heat, the weather institute has issued a code yellow. It is especially hot in Limburg. In some places the mercury rises to about 35 degrees.

According to the KNMI, the elderly and people with vulnerable health are at risk. The heat and poor air quality can cause health problems.

The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) previously indicated that the air quality in Limburg, North Brabant and Gelderland is currently very bad due to smog. People who are sensitive to this are advised to limit heavy physical exertion or to stay indoors.

The Longfonds also warns people with lung complaints to be careful because of the heat. “Try to do your outdoor activities as much as possible when the air is clean,” the organization recommended.

Fans Billie Eilish warned about heat

And the hundreds of Billie Eilish fans who are gathering in front of the Ziggo Dome today for the concert of the Californian pop star are also warned. In Amsterdam, the temperature can also rise considerably, which is why the Ziggo Dome calls on fans not to come too early, but only at the end of the afternoon or the beginning of the evening.

However, the warnings for heat and poor air quality don’t seem to bother the fans. Last night the first fans gathered in front of the entrance of the building and hundreds of people are now sitting in front of the door to get the best seat in the hall. On social media, fans are sharing photos and videos of their place in front of the door en masse.

Tomorrow rain again and 18 degrees

After today, however, the tropical temperatures seem to be over. Showers and thunderstorms are expected tonight and tonight and tomorrow the heat will be over and a cloudy day will follow. It will then be about 18 degrees on the coast and a maximum of 25 degrees inland.
