The construction of 24 modern, green, social rental apartments of the Wetland Wonen housing corporation in Steenwijk is in full swing. The apartments are expected to be ready from February/March 2023.
From now on, the new-build apartments, with a rental price of € 707.62 (including service costs), are offered for rent via The Home Finder the website on which Wetland Wonen offers the houses for rent.
In the rental
In order to offer future tenants a home that suits them, some of the apartments are now offered for rent through De Woningzoeker. New apartments will be offered regularly in the coming period. Is your preferred apartment online? Then you have four days to respond. NB! To be eligible for one of the apartments, you must be registered on De Woningzoeker. Are you not registered yet? Then register now at De Woningzoeker. In the summer, the new tenants can make different choices for the kitchen, bathroom and toilet.
The three-room apartments are on the ground floor and therefore very suitable for the elderly. But anyone from 23 years of age who is eligible for social housing may respond to the apartments. Due to the size and layout, the apartments are suitable for a maximum of 3 people. Wetland Wonen believes it is important that future tenants feel involved in green and sustainable living. In this way, the residents will jointly contribute to the design and maintenance of the greenery in and around the building.
Nice and green living
The modern, energy-efficient and nature-inclusive homes are divided over two buildings, each with 12 apartments. The first building is on Sluisweg, the second building is a stone’s throw away at De Vesting in Steenwijk. Both buildings are identical in layout. The complex on Sluisweg will have a dark (red) facing brick. The building on De Vesting will have a light (yellow) facing brick.
Nature is important in these apartments. A pleasant green environment not only contributes to the quality of life, health and social cohesion for residents, but also to climate adaptation and biodiversity. Fruit trees and flowering plants will appear on the outside of the building and on the balconies. The partially vegetated facades and the vegetation roof cool the building, absorb sound and purify the air. Rainwater is collected from the roof and under the parking spaces to supply the vegetated facades and the plants with water. Greenery is being laid out in and around the building, where the residents themselves take care of the garden maintenance. This way there is a lot of space to meet each other. For example in the picking garden, vegetable garden or on the shared roof terrace. That’s nice living. Not only for people, but also for plants and animals.
