CommScope Supports Increasing Demand for Terabit Speeds with Propel

CommScope introduces Propel, a high-speed fiber platform that helps data center managers respond to the exponential increase in computing power demand. The new technology simplifies migration to Terabit speeds by providing reliable connectivity and a robust network infrastructure tailored for rapidly emerging data center applications. This enables faster, more efficient access to data.

Demand for data centers has skyrocketed as workers, students, nurses, businesses, local communities and government agencies have moved to cloud computing, streaming services and AI applications. The industry continues to respond to an uptick in the online economy by building new data centers and investing in ways to dramatically increase data center capacity.

“Over the past few years, we have witnessed extraordinary technical advances and an increase in computing equipment that connects to the real world. Data centers are important assets in the data-driven economy. It is critical that the industry pays attention to energy consumption and space requirements as we move towards terabit speeds,” said John Schmidt, senior vice president, CommScope’s Building and Data Center Business. “CommScope’s Propel solution is designed to ensure that data center operators can maximize existing infrastructure investments and prepare for future applications in a smarter and more efficient way.”

Next Evolution of Data Center Connectivity

Propel facilitates the modernization of the network. Propel is introducing 16 fiber cabling to support burgeoning demand for 400 Gbps and 800 Gbps speeds, as well as emerging 1.6 Tbps speeds. This allows network architectures to deliver greater capacity to endpoints with increased efficiency. This saves time and energy, while at the same time significantly reducing the cost per gigabit.

Propel modules are available in four different interchangeable sizes with matching cable constructions for scaling applications with system architectures. All components are ultra-low loss for optimal performance and have a specific QR code for performance tracking and online instructions.

Propel is backed by CommScope’s SYSTIMAX Application Assurance warranty. It is the industry’s first Multifiber Push-On (MPO) platform with 16 fibers. The product range includes the following products:

  • Panels: 1U, 2U, 4U
  • Adapter Packs: LC, SN, MPO
  • Modules: Singlemode and Multimode: 8, 12, 16 and 24 fibers
  • Cable Assemblies: MPO8, 12, 16 and 24; SN and LC Uniboot
